In his autobiographical
work "Surprised By Joy", C.S. Lewis invokes the German
word "sehnsucht" and defines it as "the longing
for the mysterious, the wonderful, the other-worldly that our
daily experience does not satisfy."
There are many
references to "wonder" in classic literature down through
the ages. Some are direct and down right Scriptural. Others are
more indirect and provocative -- mystical, fantasy, mythology. In
all but a few cases, these tomes of wisdom provoke the receiver
(both reader and listener) to consider the "deeper"
things -- or as C.S. Lewis said through the Aslan the Lion..."There
is a deeper Magic that the White Witch does not know."
Our place in
this endeavor is not to be child-ish or encourage child-ishness
in others. On the contrary, it is help others see
the physical world around them with "new eyes" -- To
be childlike again.
Since there
is a "longing for the mysterious" in each of us, I
have chosen, through WonderMakers Workshop, to do my best to
provide Magic that provokes your sixth sense...
